I can’t really taste the 9%.. the flaour is strong, fruity... sweet, sort of like a wine but still a beer.
Definately something I’ll buy again. One of those beers you sit down and enjoy. Wouldn’t chow this down at a party to get drunk. SpaceMonkey (182), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 27, 2002 A subtle raisin plumb nose with dashes of orange-lemon rind, rounded out with hints of green apples, taps you on the senses and lures you into the glass. Orange edges and a dark nut brown center lurk in the middle. Big foamy head, but submits quickly to the alcohol, yet there still is plenty of carbonation. The fruity template of this is very nice, if you can call it fruity, it is more of a delicate dance between alcohol, spices, and sweetness. Try this if you can, you can’t go wrong. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Terrific fragrance that is nearly indescribable, but suggests roses, berries, and a woodshop. Pleasing complex, organic flavor. Moderately sweet flavor of nectar. Soft palate. I totally dig this beer.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 27, 2003 One of the best I've tasted since a long time. Very sugary and virtually no alcohol taste even if its 9%
Some fruity notes at the end too. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

A tad fizzy. Very drinkable. andy609 (143), Auburndale, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Nov 2, 2003 Pours a dark plum color with a small fully diminishing head. The color is very appealing. Changes to red and copper when held up to a light. Aroma of earthy malts, floral hops, traces of alcohol and grains as well (hay?). I am liking this beer more and more with each sip. Rich malts with chocolate and grape notes, with a trace of hops in the finish. Hint of coriander as well. Overly carbonated. Carbonation is the dominant feature. Fish (439), Kure, Japan
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 28, 2006 Aroma of prunes, sugar cane, berries, earth. Appearance of a deep cup of coffee with a smooth, slowly receding khaki head, like drinking a pair of dockers pants. Quite dry. Some really nice berry tartness, a touch of bready malt. Mild Belgian spiciness. Easily the most complex, most outstanding Unibroue beer. Gromit (462), Port Orchard, Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 6, 2004 750ml with a *really* cool label. Best before 3-12-06?!? Damn, maybe I should have aged it some. Granted, it's the last beer in my 'fridge so it's number was up anyway, but the thought intrigues...
Pours a murky redish brown with a huge head but very little lacing.
Smells very fruity; bananas are the most obvious scent with cloves hanging around.
Tastes like ripe fruit. Again, bananas and cloves, but there's some toffee in there as well. It's very complex and spicy; I'm wishing I had a book of adjectives right now. This tastes really good.
Mouthfeel is full. I was expecting it to be overly carbonated after pouring it, but it's not. Drinkability suffers only from the high alcohol content, although I really can't taste the alcohol.
Fine offering from Canada.
