Commercial Description:
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

Re-Reat 4/30/02 WEll im on resampling streak right now and although i still love this beer it’s not quite the perfection i once thought. Great wine/oak/ripe fruit flavors. A truly great beer. Perfect, simply perfect.

Dark cloudy brown in color, nice light-brown head. Moderate sweet malt aroma. Very full bodied, light carbonation. Bitter, dry, and slightly alcoholic. Well worth the money. Definitely one of Canada’s best.

Damn fine. Kind of like Chimay Bleu, only yeastier and with a quicker finish. Beautiful to look at.

(Re-rate) A hazy dark brown almost ruby colored. Moderate but persistent tan head. Aroma is of vinous fruits(raisons, figs, berries), vanilla, subtle yeast and others, simply stellar. Flavor consists of huge malts that ride along the whole way, clove, maybe mint, marshmellow, vanilla, touch of honey, fruity sweetness (overly ripened cherries?) and yeasty twangs on the side of tounge. Almost thick bodied, very mellow, cant taste the alcohol but can feel it. The yeast is a bit more dominate as it warms but adds another dimension to this gift. This is why we drink beer boys..........

Very dark with a large frothy head. Ripe dark fruit aroma with some roasted smokey tones. Was amazed to find this readily available in my home town. Awsome brew.

Murky is right...Brown appearance. Lots of particles, and great lil things floating around. Aromas of raisons and dark fruit, oak, vanilla. Vinous all the way through, alcohol and full bodied. This is great stuff, no doubt about it, a classic!
