Felt very very creamy aroma was of fruits (plums?). overall very nice." Incubus1981 (12), Michigan, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 6, 2005 Pours a murky brown with a foamy white head that dies quickly- almost like pouring a glass of cola. Leaves no lacing. Aroma is not very pungent, hints at fruit and a bit of spice. I was blown away by the first taste, though, after having tried to smell it for about ten minutes. Rich, vinous character with a warm alcohol bite but no real flavor of alcohol. Sweet in the mouth but without any lingering sweetness that would make it overpowering. Wonderful fruity flavors coupled with dried fruit flavors, like prunes or raisins, and some caramel or toffee notes. Aftertaste definitely reminds me of raisins. Nicely carbonated, balancing out the sweetness exceptionally well. Overall, a truly exceptional beer. Eladerman (53), Newburgh, Indiana, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 13, 2007 This I feel is the best brew from Unibroue. Its true to the genre of Belgian Dark strong ales -- malty with hints of dark fruit and brown sugar or molasas and a nice ABV content at 9% will get ya there. Not as good as Chimay Blue or Grand Reserve, nonetheless a very nice beer. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2006 12oz bottle. Dark brown with tan head. Huge nose, with aromas of various dark fruit, black cherry, molasses, smoke, rotting apples, woodsy notes, and yeast. Flavor is nicely balanced between sweet, sour, and bitter, focusing on a dark-fruit sweetness and dryness, with a present alcohol warmth and yeast bite throughout. High carbonation helps smooth out the sweetness and contributes to a quick, dry finish. Very tasty stuff! gputty (456), Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA

Nose is doughy, with brown sugar, dark fruits and some hints of pear and apple. Flavor is complex, dark and smooth, following the nose with the pear adding to a dry finish. Excellent. thewolf (5828), Kolding, Denmark
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2006 Stunning brown colour, very hazy, with orangy sides. Not much head, slightly beige. Powerful aroma with oranges, plums. VEry high carbonated with a champagne feel. Sweet, but with roasted malts as well as a powerful flavour of dried fruits, such as raisins, plums and suchlike. Not too vinious despite the 9 %. Some sweet spices as well, coriander and cinnamon. Stunning! warriorx99 (85), USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 28, 2006 Bottled. This pours a dark brown with a fizzy light brown head that really releases the aroma of this beer, which is a compelling combination of fruity and a roasty malt aroma. This is a medium body ale that goes down smooth with a fruity roasty taste that ends sweet with a hint of spice that pops at the tip of the tongue. Another big win for Unibroue in my book. Excellent beer.
