Christmas pudding like aroma. Great drinkability needs a little more mouthfeel but the flavors are even better that the hints of fruit from the aroma. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2008 Pours a dark amber if not brown color that is cloudy visually but the rich amber color is only seen holding your glass up to the light. The head retention was a slight off white but quickly dissipated and left little lace to the glass. The smell knocks of Belgian-esk with a fruitiness to boot. More of a sweet and sour aroma but notice of malt is light and noticeable. The taste does not hint the 9% ABV that one would think. Quite enjoyable and mixed well with malt and fruity with hints of plum or raisin. The after taste has a bigger carbonation feel with strong tones of different spices from say a bunt cake. The bubbles dance in your mouth but the high alcohol is limit and nearly existant. Makes for a good mouthful flavor. Unibroue Trois Pistoles is a great tasting Belgian strong dark ale but not something to have on a regular day home from work. Instead enjoy this beer with someone who will enjoy a unique Belgian and flavor. dogfishho (172), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

The description on the package seems to be spot on. Obviously high quality, excellent mouth feel. Taste started with a salvo of dried fruit and an encore of dry red wine. Surprising that this is beer, yet oh so satisfying. Next up La Fin du Monde! patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA

It pours a hazy dark brown with a huge, rapidly fading head. Aroma has yeast notes and is also very fruity, enough so that I feared it would taste too sour for me. Not so. The flavor is sweet, fruity as expected, but also well balanced. I didn’t detect much bitterness. Finish is surprisingly smooth with that warming 9% alcohol well hidden. This is a really excellent beer. I’ll definitely look for other Unibroue brews. Siroy (220), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The opening: Dark ruby-brown color with a fine slightly brown-tainted head. The complexity to the nose is consistent with the quadrupel style. Therefore, we find the typical malted dominance: roasty, caramel, toast. But moreover, we find deep fruits as well. And of corse, that Unibroue yeast.
The contact: I wish I just could forget everything I know about this beer and taste it for the first time over and over again. The nose was right: It taste malty. There are spices... Licorice, prunes.. Would that be cloves? Then you feel the alcohol. Long.
This beer definitely evolves through time. boojummy (50), Medford, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 22, 2006 Pours a hazy dark brown-charcoal with a greyish-tan head. Powerful fuit fragrance like plums and cherries, and a little bit of spice. Classic Belgian bouquet. My first sip is an explosion of fruity, spicy flavor with a slightly tart bite and some clove and vanilla overtones. The force is strong with this one... I can feel the alcohol as this slides down my throat and warms my belly. Body is medium and the high carbonation makes this beer seem lighter than is it. No discernable bitterness with a dry, coffee-like finish. Quite a complex brew. Wonderful. zombywoof (362), Shawnee, Kansas, USA

Rich aroma of carmelized apple, prunes, orange and spicy tannins. Excellent flavor- light spice, dried fruits. Sweet without being cloying or syrupy. Nice body. A bit of alcohol bite in the finish and woody notes. Gets better as it warms and oxidates. lgklotet (420), Singapore, Singapore

Sweet, just noticed this is more or less readily available in Sweden now (beställningssortiment..) This beer is huge.. Dark dark red. Sweet fruits, plums, dates and raisings matched with yeasty spice. Very effervescent carbonation. One of the best beers in a long time..
