The head pours out tall, but eventually goes away and leaves a great brew. Not much else to say, but damn it try this beer if you haven’t, cause its worth it. Dark brown almost ripe plum color. Raisiny sweet nose. Malty intro with light carbonation and pleasant alcohol in the finish. Sweetness marked by raisins and/or dates are noticeable from beginning to end. Well-balanced beer that would be great as a winter warmer. eaglefan538 (2403), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 2, 2006 This poured beautifully. The head was pillowy tan and sat pretty the entire drink. The color was dark brown to black (somewhat stout-like). Richer than a dubel (but not to the level of a quad), this had a mouthfeel that was almost creamy. Aroma and flavor were spicey and fruity, which I didn’t find to be all that distinguished from many of the Belgian ales out there (which isn’t a bad thing). jonnabrix (136), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 24, 2006 A nice deep brown color, with a fluffy white, dissipating head. Wonderful aroma of fruit and malt. The flavor is deep and dark, but not heavy, striking the right balance of fruit, malt, yeast, and some mild spices. The alcohol is well-hidden. Excellent. fonefan (11891), VestJylland, Denmark

Nice roasted malts with dark chocolate and fruits and a crisp port finish. Beautiful! If you are in the Americas it is a great substitute for some of the more expensive Belgian Trappists. kopher (309), New York, USA
