Commercial Description:
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

Good solid beer, the third belgian strong ale Ive tried, poured dark, but not thick body. Very easy to drink considering the high alc content. SECOND TASTING: Havent Had this beer in over a year, but 300 and some beers later, it’s even better than I remember. Sampled this back to back with the Maudite at Shorty’s in NYC. THIRD TRY::: Bottle split with Pat. Pours a dark stout like body. Aroma suggests that this beer is anything but a roasty stout - with notes of spice, malt, and sweet sugar. Taste is unbelievably smooth. Great flavor.

Bottle. Black with a small but thick head. Kind of shy but nice fruity aroma. Wonderfull taste! Sweet like a belgian blonde and elegant like a barley wine. Complex, yet easy to drink. Sweet and choclatey.

Best belgian I’ve had so far. Strong fruity flavour and alcohol hidden well. Impressive foamy head and wonderful fruity smell. A good intro beer of its type.....I typically don’t like belgians, even those that everyone here are so fond of. But this was very tasty.

Bottled. You can smell the alcohol right from the start. This combined with the fruit flavors is interesting. This pours a dark read brown with a highly carbonated head of creamy brown color. The flavors fall hand and hand with the aroma, fruits of cherry plum and possibly apricot, the crisp bite of herbs and alcohol. Smooth on the tongue, and the flavor lingers. This is one of my new favorites.

Pours a super dark reddish brown (into a chalice, seemed much lighter as it reached the bottom)with a large foamy peach tan head that has poor retention but fades to a nice thick skin. Aroma is cherry, lime, plum, spicy yeast, citrus hops, and black tea. Flavor is unique and interesting, yeasty orange glazed dinner rolls up front, a little roast, caramel, dark chocolate covered cherries, fresh rye bread, belgian yeast spiciness, a musty earty note and some funk. FInish is pepper spice, orange zest, citrus hops and some mellow sort of old tasting bitter hops and a sort of spicy, citrus, roast and chocolate aftertaste. Body is light to medium with a great fizzy carbonation level (not too heavy or or light bubbles, just the right intensity) and a slightly sticky feel on the lips. This is really a fantastic beer,

Very dark beer, poured straight into my glass and it almost overflowed with foam. Taste is smooth and similar to a good tasting wine but better. No bad taste at all. great beer.

Incredible! This is fine, fine stuff. First thing I noticed was a burst of aroma, flowing out of the bottle, full of alcohol, dark fruits (figs or raisins), combined with roasty malt. It’s poured a very dark-reddish color with a reddish foam head. Nicely carbonated. It’s flavor was very complex with fruits, vinious texture, alcohol, and roasty malt. It’s smooth and right. Nice cool, nice warm. Not abrasive whatsoever.
