Dark brown with reddish hue, huge bubbly head with great staying power. Aroma hints of cellar-aged dark fruit. Creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied, wonderfully balanced and smooth flavor that requires thought to pick out any component beyond a pleasant malty sweetness. Mild aftertaste with alcohol just slightly evident at the end. This would be a great choice for helping friends transition to higher quality brews. smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA

This one was the most anticipated by my girlfriend and I, both of us being fans of darker style ales. The appearance was STUNNING. Not bright, not black, directly in-between. A soft, beautiful reddish/brown, like light coffee or cola, and topped with a tannish white, whipped mousse looking head. Beautiful. The nose is presented with sweet aromas of anise, ginger, and sassafrass (similar to root beer), that complement one another very well. The taste is nicely bitter but well balanced, with toffee, cocoa, hints of raisins, dates, ginger, root beer, and roasted malt, all lingering long after the last sip, as well as a vanilla bean creaminess. Excellent. Interesting. TheKegergator (241), California, USA

Wow, I love me some Belgians.
This was very good brew. Strong flavor, after taste. This on is one of my favorites and i must track it down again. Very, very drinkable with the 9% ABV. I think I could go through 3-4 of these a night.

Dark amber coloration, with a beige head, not so consistent and persistent, but very nice. Complex and well balanced aroma and palate. Lightly floral and fruity, maybe red fruits (I feel notes of blackberry). High carbonation; however, it does not harm the set.
