Pours Black/burgundy with a tawny thick foamy head. Aroma is plummy and thick with sweet dried fruits and alcohol. Flavours are sometime miss mashed. Chocolate will stand out on one occasion, Grapes on another. There is just so much going on. Yeasty, fun, and warming. Some may complain that the beer is too sweet. And it is. Too cold and alcohol burns through everything. A classic belgian strong. frink (467), coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 14, 2004 Pours an almost opaque black with a thin layer of foam that stays for the duration sampling. Many aromas are present, malts, burnt caramel, red wine, raisins, plums. It’s a bit like a Rochy 10 without the noticeable alcohol. The flavours are rich and mouthfilling, sweetness, nice carbonation, molasses, big roasted malt notes, raisins and more. This is a great beer! Hoarde now! SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Incredible fruity wine-like aroma. I really liked this. I’m surprised that the alcohol is so high, as the balance hides the fact. My guess was that it was an Abbey ale due to the smoothness. This was truly one of the best Unibroue ales that I’ve tried. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA

Aroma was complex of coffee, chocolate and citrus. Complex mouth full of flavors same as aroma with long finish with an alcohol bite. Very good brew. brewshthereen (316), Oregon, USA

One might think it would be very srong, yet very easy to drink. Strong spices present with hints of licorice and cinnamon. Another great beer from Unibroue. french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Drank in a tulip glass. 750 ml dated April 25th 2006. Amazingly thick frothy head on top of a pitch black poor. Aromas of sweet plums and bread, figs, black cherries, blackberries, very autumn like, coriander, grapes, red mcintosh apples with a slight vanilla twist... Very even bodied excellent beer. Slightly under carbonated but a part from that... The alcohol is an obvious feel to the palate and taste... Flavors are exactly the same as its aromas... Very un’unibroue like in taste yet incredibly rich and tasty. I’ve drank quite a FEW of these and i’ll say it again... this beer ages beautifully in perfect conditions. ENJOY!
