Incredible fruity wine-like aroma. I really liked this. I’m surprised that the alcohol is so high, as the balance hides the fact. My guess was that it was an Abbey ale due to the smoothness. This was truly one of the best Unibroue ales that I’ve tried. brewshthereen (316), Oregon, USA

Smells of dark fruit, chocolate, bannanas, spices and yeast. And thats just the aroma! Complex flavors. This beer demands you to relax, and enjoy. MIBRomeo (1966), Wisconsin, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 21, 2004 medium brown in color w/ a thick dark head.
Carries a slightly sweet aroma similar to that of other belgins.
Carries a nice smooth taste w/ some surprising carbonation as i didn’t think it showed in the glass.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 11, 2004 12oz bottle. Sampled at 51 degress from a New Belgium Dark reddish-brown color with a big off white head that stuck around for a couple minutes. There is a good amount of particluate matter in the beer. Sweet smell. Raisins? The flavor is sweet with good amount of complexity. Flavors of overripe bananas, raisins, sour candies. I would not have guessed this was 9%. The finish is bittersweet and fruity, but fairly dry. The mouthfeel is great. The beer coats the mouth and I think the fizziness of the beer (certainly not over the top) really "massages" your tongue. Pretty tasty stuff. Resampled at 58 degrees and the hop character seems to emerge a bit more. TheBeerBaron (219), Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 20, 2007 Bottle. Cloudy dark brown. Average head lingering lace. Carbonation tough to see from the outside but clearly there from the bubble pools rising to the top. Raisin, plum, and apricot smell with a hint of potent hops toward the end. Very bubbly evervescent palate, also thick feel. Sweet flavor containing apricots, plum and bananna, like a fruit shake with alcohol included - think sangria. Tasty. A bit of hops but it does not compete with the fruity mix. Sweet and potent. Another great representation from the group in Quebec. DerWeg (783), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Easy to drink yet amazingly fulfilling and balanced. Pours puffy head, beautiful deep purple-black. Soft clovey/sarsaparilla & restrained yeast aroma; generous plummy, grape & fig notes in taste with slight citrus on the long port-like finish. Does Chimay Bleu wish it were this interesting, I wonder? For my money, mais oui.
