Commercial Description:
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

Pours a darker brown, topped by a couple inches of tan foam. Decent head retention, good lacing. Malty aroma of plum, fig, maple, and brown sugar. Toffee, brown sugar, and a little chocolate flavors up front. Not overly sweet, in fact, very good balance. Some tart stone fruit in the finish, almost dry at the end and into the aftertaste - with just a bit of bitter chocolate along for the ride. Medium body, moderate carbonation, and very drinkable.

Dark brown hue, with a light foamy head, dry fruits of raisins, figs, prunes , dates with a malted chocolate note and sweet maltiness aroma. The palate is sweet and fruity of dark fruits, raisins, figs, prunes , dates with a spicy touch of curaçao, through a malty flavor of chocolate finishing in a good acidity.

Bottle. Very dark ruby black pour with large off beige head. Nice full body with lots of earthy fruits - plums and raisins. Carbonation was very well done for my pour. Good stuff.

a dark murky ruby that is almost black. small off white head. dark sugary fruits, candy, yeast, and licorice. certainly mellow as there is no sharp carbonation or alcohol bite. everything seems to mend well together in this one.

Bottle. Rocky off white head with a ruby colored body. Nose is raisins, plums. Mouth is raisins, plums, something sweet, possibly cranberries?

Yet another winner from Unibroue. Nose is full of dark fruits, delicious. One of the best strong ales around IMHO.

Very, very good. Fruity essences, and some wheat flavor as well. Very unusual, highly carbonated. Rich, yet bright and crisp. Definitely one of the best beers I’ve had.
