zappafan99 (193), Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA May 13, 2008 Ruddy color and a ruddy flavor. Fruity taste with no carbonation. Tasted and felt like the bottle was never corked. Don’t understand the score it has. Couldn’t force myself past half a glass. Will not buy again.
chrisafari (48), Orange, California, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours dark black with a fluffy cream colored head. Sweet aroma of belgian yeast and plums. Flavor begins with slight alcohol then flavors of plums and brown sugar develop. Leaves a nice lingering spicy/sweetness in the throat and nostrils. Like a less intense Judgment Day, but still good. Really easy to drink for 9%! ewestern (19), Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle aged for 1 year - poured a dark ruby color with a dirty white head. Sweet fruity aroma with a sweet fruity taste hiding the alcohol. Starts with a carbonated feel on the tongue that dissipates as the drink is swallowed. Leaves the mouth craving more. Definitely recommend trying this beer aged. hip_hop (61), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 3, 2008 Gold head with deep brown body. Aroma of fruit, hops and malt. Complex body with notes of raisins, apricots and grapes. Full finish with a very mild hop. This is a dessert beer to be sipped. squirreltail (3), USA does not count Jul 1, 2008 This is [one of] my favorite beer(s). Great color. Nice head that diminishes quickly. Great aroma. And above all, great taste. This beer is also less expensive than some beers that I feel ,while they do deserve their recognition, are overrated like the Chimays. patricks110 (85), Alberta, Canada Jul 1, 2008 Amazing. Simply amazing. Had at Bottlescrew Bills Calgary AB. Can also get at Kensington wine market, calgary. Aroma of rich fruit mixed with strong malts. Appearance is outstanding. Looks like a black yet slightly purple wine. Tastes like a strong porter- hints of oranges, berrys and honey among many other glorious aromas. Bitter taste, but not overpowering. The perfect beer for a dinner.
