changeup45 (567), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 13, 2008 Pours a hazy dark brown color with a thickish tan head. Quick alcohol, yeasty, semi sugary aroma. Slightly sweet and vanilla yeasty tasting but not crazy overpowering like I was expecting and the alcohol seems to be hidden very well in the flavor. While the abv his hidden well I do assure you it’s there, you’re body will tell you that! There’s also a roasty almost chocolate flavor in there mixed with some caramel. Very good. It does have a little tangy sour taste as well but it is much more controlled in this one and mixes in quite well.
Grossecaisse (16), France Sep 6, 2008 It seems like coconut taste...
A bit strong but not so heavy
A bit sugared
nbutler11 (164), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 6, 2008 Pours like a Coke from the bottle, dark amber with an obnoxious tan fizzy head of foam. Smells of anise and malts with additional notes of caramel and milk cocoa in the flavor. Frothy mouthfeel, but definitely improves as it warms. Floback (251), N-town, Florida, USA Sep 4, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine. Pours an amber/black body with a large off-white head. Smells are dark and cloying with hints of chocolate malts and dark fruits. Flavors are nutty and wood chip-like, but also reminiscent of an Abbey Tripel or Quad with notes of banana, bubblegum, and clove. High carbonation and a full body seem out of balance here. This has a chewy mouthfeel and poorly masked ABV. Not bad, but definitely not my favorite from Unibroue. JuStuka (143), , Mexico Sep 2, 2008 Dark brown color, smells like caramel, chocolate, toffee and roasted malts, tastes of dark berries, caramel and a lot of alcohol. BeerGestapo (322), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 1, 2008 (Canada) Pours a very dark brown wih a sm white head. The aroma is of caramel, toffee, roasted malts, and chocolate. Taste of caramel, malts, dark fruit, and a hint of vanilla. The mouthfeel is sticky sweet and robust. The 9% is hidden very well in this belgian strong ale. Do yourself a favor and buy some soon. :)
