Commercial Description:
A pale golden German ale with subdued, clean-tasting malt flavor and aroma. This is a beer from the "old" brewing tradition before lagers become popular. Fermented at a lower temperature than normal ales, and followed by several weeks of cold lagering.

Cloudy yellow-orange-tan. Aroma is light and malty with some citrus detectable. Flavor has some citrus, thick bread, and a light & tangy fruit taste. Not bad for a style I don’t usually like.

Lightly hazy unfiltered yellow appearance, perhaps 10-20% opaque. Bit of a sweaty nose, with dominant aromas of musty grains, some corn, some dust, overall it smells pretty good. Wet and nicely crisp on the tongue, then turning quickly frothy, biting, snappy grains and corn hit the tongue along with a subtle creamy yeast flavor. My first impressions are that it’s probably better than any US version I’ve tried. Quite hoppy for a kölsch, and a bit vegetal at times, though I think this comes across because of the abundant hop use. Otherwise, it’s a solid kölsch, very refreshing, and well-made.

On tap at the brewpub; aroma was of malt and grain/bread. Flavor was much of the same with some citrus elements to it. Enjoyable mouthfeel with a dry finish. Some light hop presence.
