Commercial Description:
A pale golden German ale with subdued, clean-tasting malt flavor and aroma. This is a beer from the "old" brewing tradition before lagers become popular. Fermented at a lower temperature than normal ales, and followed by several weeks of cold lagering.

Draft @ Union Barrel Works, pre-BCTC beerventure. Pours a hazy yellow color; fluffy white head with good retention. Very clean aroma; light citrus hop presence; very refreshing. Medium mouthfeel with great density of flavor; fresh citrus hop character, with a light chewy sugary core; pleasant, clean dry citrus finish. An excellent, refreshing kölsch.

Lightly hazy unfiltered yellow appearance, perhaps 10-20% opaque. Bit of a sweaty nose, with dominant aromas of musty grains, some corn, some dust, overall it smells pretty good. Wet and nicely crisp on the tongue, then turning quickly frothy, biting, snappy grains and corn hit the tongue along with a subtle creamy yeast flavor. My first impressions are that it’s probably better than any US version I’ve tried. Quite hoppy for a kölsch, and a bit vegetal at times, though I think this comes across because of the abundant hop use. Otherwise, it’s a solid kölsch, very refreshing, and well-made.

On tap, at UBW. Pours a pale yellow with light visible carbonation. Light bready malt nose with a touch of fruitiness. Clean softly malty flavor with a little bit of grassiness. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation, short finish. Pretty decent, but it could use a bit of hops to brighten it up a bit.

Pours a nice light mostly clear gold, mild carbonation, yet a nice fluffy lasting pure white head. Light dms and cereal aroms, light floral and fruity ester hints, and nice fresh pils malts. Clean flavor- dough, pils malts, light white wine hint, crisp hops in the end. Good mouthfeel and body for the style. Nice kolsch.
