Pours a deep brown with ruby notes and a medium crew off white head. Aroma of chocolate, lightly roasted malts and hints of smoke. Flavor was a nice mix of roasted malts, dark chocolate, hints of coffee...nice stout.

Darker brown color with a medium head. Malty, dark-bread aroma with some roast to it. Flavor has some roasty malt and a bit of coffee in there. Somewhat thin, but very drinkable.

Consumed at Union Barrel Works, July 2007

Nose is mostly maple and roast, more sweet than expected. Mildly dry and pasty texture, light roast tasted. Seems uncomplicated at first, with some more maple, char and roast taste, quite a simple flavor profile but there’s nothing wrong with that when it’s done well. Overall a bit dried than standard stout but not to the level of Irish Stout. Good stuff.

On tap at the Union Barrel Brew Pub. Poured a deep brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roast (main aroma), with some chocolate, and coffee. Tastes of roast, chocolate, smoke, and coffee. This one was roasty all the way around. Body on the thinner side.

Tap; poured a dark brown with an off white head. Good aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Flavor was much of the same and was good, but the body was way too light. Drinkable.

Tap @ UBW. Poured a very dark brown color with a small off-white head. Big roasted and coffee aroma with a good bit of ash as well. The flavor is very roasted and too ashey. Light-medium body with a very dry finish. Leaves an ash taste in the mouth.
