Smells of tangy malt, roses, some earthy hints, peppery splashes and some sweet malt. Taste lives up to the expectations of the aroma with a nice tart tanginess complimented by some nice sweet malt. One of the better amber ales I’ve had. PhillyBeer2112 (2089), Orange Park, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2003 Amber color with a huge head, good lace, medium-bodied. The aroma hints of chocolate, spices, and hops (cascade?). The flavor was somewhat sweet with a good balance of hops. A little bite on the palate but finished clean. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2003 My favorite local brew. Great when had on tap (average from the bottle). A very sweet taste with hints of chocolate and something else (cinnamon, ginger? not sure). Very clean taste. Delicious. humulus (338), Salem, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2004 From the tap room: Deep amber and cloudy (they don’t filter anything). Nice frothy tides clinging to the margin. Deep clover honey in the aroma. The flavor is rich and pleasing. Apple Crisp notes and a chalky "brown ale" touch. Hops are floral and well balanced with the mals. Very good. DeppityBob (28), South Bend, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Enjoyable thirst-quencher! A little thin on the palate, but this brew would suffer if it were thicker. Mildly hoppy, enough to produce a tang on the tongue but not enough to dry your cheeks out. Sweet but not cloying, tasty with full caramel, almond, and vanilla tones, plus a pleasant bit of clove (must not be much to be pleasant, since I don’t like cloves). Surprisingly bright but rich, with a nice *(stickyish) linger after. beezz86 (68), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 4, 2008 Shaker from a bottle. Poured a nice dark red-orange color with a very slight haziness and an off white head. I thought it had a bit of a hoppy aroma. The beer has a light body with a thin-to-creamy texture and fizzy carbonation. Overall I was very impressed with this beer. It reminded me of a red ale with hops. I really like the flavor of this beer and would definately recommend it to friends. A great beer to really slow down and enjoy. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA

Ok, well I just realized that a cold beer encountering a warm glass results in MASSIVE HEAD! This one pours magnificent, foggy mahogany body and a colossal rocky soft caramel colored head, a damn effervescent body!
The aroma is full with malt, brown sugar, peach, pear, plums, & cornflakes. The flavor is reminiscent of a toasty Arturo Fuente -Corona cigar, nutty lingering palate, ginger, a touch of mocha, very enjoyable. One hell of a creamy butterscotch palate!
