Commercial Description:
Creamy chocolate flavors combine with a lightly roasted finish and superb body to balance this traditional brown porter. A fragrant malt/hop aroma and herbaceous hop flavor complete this highly quaffable ale.

Bottled. Poured medium brown with a short cap of tan head. The aroma picked up toasted coffee and nutty notes with earthy notes and some sourness around.. OK stuff. The flavor was centered around coffee with earth and smoky accents.. picked up some chocolate to join the coffee at the finish.. bitterness was mild, and the light sourness hit toward the back. Light-medium bodied and slick on the palate.. OK balance and OK in other regards.

Bottle. Poured a large, frothy, light brown head. Minimal lacing. Dark brown-black in color (nearly opaque in my 0,2 cl glass). Malty nose with an almost overpowering dark chocolate and roast aroma. Dark chocolate and french roasted coffee dominate the flavor profile. Some pleasant burnt notes, but nothing overpowering. A little bit of caramel comes through and some coffee roastery smokiness. The chocolate flavor becomes tiring after a while because it is so dominant. Taking a large swig is like taking a shot of melted, 80% cacoa chocolate. Medium bodied with a light creaminess and soft carbonation. Bitter finish with lingering chocolate and roastiness. Overall a good porter, but it could be better if the chocolate flavor was better balanced.

Bolttle. Poured a dark brown color with a small tan head and a bit of lacing. The beer had a strong aroma of chocolate and roasty malts. This porter had a light body and thin texture paired with a nice long lasting finish. The flavor was mostly roasty with a hint of chocolate that gave the beer a light sweetness. Overall, this was a good beer. I guess I like Porters to be a bit thicker and creamier on the palate, but I would definately drink this beer again.

Near black with a moderate head of beige bubbles. Aromas of dark chocolate intermixed with a latte. There seems to be a bit of grain present as well. Flavors start fairly sweet with some caramel and toffee. Dark chocolate and roasted malt arrive in the middle. Fairly dry and bitter in the finish and linger. Seems thin at times.

On tap @ barcade Midwest Fest. Black with lasting ring. Mild roast fruit and something else (anise?) aroma. Very mild flavor (especially after Edmund Fitz Porter) with smooth think chocolate malts and some type of anise or something. Clean finish. Not much here. I didn’t care for it.
