Commercial Description:
Creamy chocolate flavors combine with a lightly roasted finish and superb body to balance this traditional brown porter. A fragrant malt/hop aroma and herbaceous hop flavor complete this highly quaffable ale.

Bottled: Jan 2006 pours a beautiful almost black with a reddish tint and a thick tan head that dissipates quickly to a light lacing that remains. aroma is brown sugar and a little chocolate... one of the best smelling brews I’ve had. Mouthfeel is creamy and chewy. tastes roasty and malty with a nice bitterness.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with a fizzy, huge tan head (and that’s with an extremely careful pour). Smell: Earthy aroma of stale chocolate, prunes, and what can only be described as licorice dust. Taste: Sweet chocolate taste with hints of coffee and a dash of cola. Light herbal hop flavor on the dry, bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Overly fizzy carbonation. Drinkability: It would be fine but for all that gosh darned foam. Ease up on that carbonation, Elmer!

Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a large, over-carbonated, well-lacing tan head. Aroma is best summarized as burnt chocolate chip cookies. Body starts foamy and lightly dark caramely sweet with a lot of burnt roasty notes throughout. FInishes a little thinner with some lingering black malt, cookie dough, and peppery, spicy hops. This recipe needs a little less of the burnt flavor.

Aroma is chocolate and somewhat malty. Pours dark brown with little head. Moderate mouth feel with flavors of chocolate and some coffee. Nothing heavy or overbearingly sweet. a decent porter.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. This porter pours a deep brown with a small, light brown head. The head is slightly lasting, leaving behind some light lace around the glass. The aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and cocoa. Flavor is roasted malts and light coffee with some hop notes at the finish. Decent balance. This beer is light to medium bodied, maybe a bit thin feeling in the mouth. It leaves a slight aftertaste of coffee. A decent porter from Upland.
