Commercial Description:
Creamy chocolate flavors combine with a lightly roasted finish and superb body to balance this traditional brown porter. A fragrant malt/hop aroma and herbaceous hop flavor complete this highly quaffable ale.

This is a very good beer that is very flavorful but not as heavy and bitter as Guinness or other dark beers tend to be, I would highly recommend it to others. No aftertaste that I noticed. Can’t really speak to aroma cause I can’t smell very well. Still trying to find out where to get it locally in Cincinnati. Would be great draft too. LOL. I am Dherbert53@aol.com. Thanks

Pours a deep dark almost black mahogany with a thick brown head. Nose is malt, chocolate and molasses. Very creamy mouthfeel. Taste is full, with flavors of well roasted malts, toffee and chocolate. Very delightful beer, an excellent example of the style. Pairs well with brats, burgers or can stand on its own.

I really like this beer. Being that this is a local brew, I am somewhat partioal. Poors dark with a light foam medium brown head. A good roasted flavor with a hint of spice.

Bottled: Jan 2006 pours a beautiful almost black with a reddish tint and a thick tan head that dissipates quickly to a light lacing that remains. aroma is brown sugar and a little chocolate... one of the best smelling brews I’ve had. Mouthfeel is creamy and chewy. tastes roasty and malty with a nice bitterness.

Pours a dark brown with a brown-ish light head. Aroma has hints of chocolate and roasted malts, no hops. Flavor is like the aroma but has a sourness to it, more suptle than the New Glarus Porter, but it is there. Medium-heavy, no way to drink a lot of these in one sitting. I really like this.

Fruity coffee aroma with bitter chocolate. Flat, deep red pour. Lots of bitter chocolate in the flavor, a little cappucino, balanced by some herbal hops. Lingering coffee syrup flavor. Not too bad. Thanks to TAR.

Update tap at Barcade. Tap is much better, fuller body, nothign off- just lots of full chocoalte matls with a slight earthy hop character. Nice 2.9-3.7 upgrade. Pours a nice deep brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma is nutty, chocolate and light caramel, but it is not really potent. Flavor is lightly sweet with a wierd sweet-tart candy like slight acidity and some light nutty chocolate malts. Carbonation is a bit high and with that slight tartness there may be a slight bacterial infection in there. Not a great porter by any means, but not terrible either.

On tap- Dark opaque color with nice head and lace, medium-bodied. Coffee, chocolate, and floral aroma. Roasted malt flavor dominates the palate, dry finish. Similiar to the porters from northern England.
