| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Appearance: Pours out a slightly hazed, amber-purple body with a small-sized, bubbly, white head.
Smell: Aroma of sourish, tart blackberries sprinkled with table sugar, woody, spicy oak barrels, and a few small wafts of pungent lactic acid.
Taste: Hasty taste of sweet sugars yield to tart, lightly fruity blackberries and lesser hints of damp hay and mustiness. Fairly restrained lactic sourness throughout. A touch of mustiness at this point, but it’s certainly no filthy, dilapidated barnyard. Easygoing, smooth oak barrel character with a touch of vanilla butter. Final taste of lightly tart berries on the smooth, damned near creamy, but still dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation. Surprisingly creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Okay, okay, so maybe it’s not the most authentic, true-to-style fruit lambic out there, but, come on, it’s very tasty, very drinkable, and really, who wouldn’t take this over a Chapeau lambic any day of the week? Ungstrup (15376), Frederiksberg, Denmark
