If you lined all of the Upland Lambics next to one another, I think I would have a hard time distinguishing which was which!!! Cloudy mandarin pour with a non-existent head. Sour berry skin (any berry will do), orange zest, lemon/lime juice, and citric acid. Not a ton of carbonation, but again, it doesn’t take away from drinkability. Good...not great. Shared with a few people at miketd’s tasting this is one I could have finished myself. Somewhere between sweet (Belgian Red) and tart (Cantillon) it strikes a nice balance that does not require a roll of Tums at the end of the night. Hopefully the rest of the line up lives up to the expectations of the first two I have tried this year.
Aroma / Appearance - The light pink body contrasted against the bluish/brown body. Giving off the smell of blackberry jam spread across rye toast it gives a nice invitation to the senses.
Flavor / Palate - Tart, dry, and fluid it washes cleanly across the palate. Very drinkable for the style this falls about halfway between the sugary sweetness of Lindemans and the intensity of Cantilllon. It would not be a stretch to finish a bottle of this alone over a few hours.
