boboski (1095), USA Dec 17, 2007 Simply breathtaking appearance. The head is completely stuck , a mid-sized white foam that’s both frothy and creamy. Lacing is profuse, sheeted and completely covering. The magenta body is glowing, soft and steady trickles of carbonation stream upward and keep the head level throughout the quaff. The aroma has a moderate level of funk and awesome barnyard leanings that niether go over-the-top nor dissapoint. This sexy melange morphs into a sheath that gently pulls back to reveal gentle blackberry tarness. Hay and must are medium and grow steadily as the lambic nears room temperature. This revelatory and complimentary blend of measured and restrained funkiness and light, fresh fruit is so enjoyable in the aroma that the first sip comes long after first inhalation. Oakiness is mellow and tannic properties as well as vanilla are minor offshoots. Lactic notes are soft, noted after the funkiness breaks momentarily. Soft grains trail and bring up the rear with a crisp earthiness. Alcohol is not noted, no flaws noted. Amazing so far. Sweetness in the flavor is much higher than the nose eluded to, but it’s not so high that it hinders enjoyment. The sweet sugars give way to funk and light blackberry notes. Barnyard is lessened now, a sequential transition to light tartness that grows into the long finish. Sourness is mild and most evident in the forefront of each sip. Oak is of medium stature in each big gulp(hard not to take huge sips). Vanilla is a soothing backdrop that counters zippy carbonation that amplifies the mouthfeel and makes medium seem suddenly larger, looming. The mouthfeel is very smooth, so much so that carbonation seems to slow down the descent to the belly. This is very easy to drink, quenching and delicious. There are intermittent watery pockets upon the palate but they’re not bothersome. Tartness and barnyard funk grow with each sip and linger in a semi-sweet and moderately sour finish. This is an excellent example of a domestic attempt at fruit lambic.

Tart, acidic aroma with berry and rich, sweet malt, and funk of course. I always forget to mention funk in my rating.
Taste is tart, slightly sour berry, lemony and citric.
Finish is smooth and a dearth of crispness. Kind of dull finish.
Okay. Skyview (2768), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Aug 11, 2008 Special pouring during GTMW ’08 at 4 pm via 750 ml bottle. Pours a semi-clear orange amber lambic with a fizzy off-white head that slowly dissipates clean. Aroma of tart blackberries, dewberries, a touch of raspberries, yeast funk, and a touch of cardboard. Taste is tart berries, yeasty, some brett, and wooden oak. Finish aftertaste has a semi-sweet but dry character with a lingering yeast and blackberry flavor. hopdog (4525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 21, 2008 750ml bottle shared thanks to Ughsmash (thanks!). Poured a medium and cloudy orangish / amber color with an averaged sized, pinkish tinged, head. Aromas of blackberries, some funkiness, wood, other berries, and musty. Tastes of blackberries, vanilla, funk, wood, and musty. Light tart finish. This one grew on me the more I drank it. Ughsmash (2958), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 21, 2008 750mL bottle. Poured crystal-clear medium orange with plenty of sparkly rising carbonation and a fizzy (yet well-retained) cap of pinkish-white head. The aroma picked up tart blackberry skins and lemon zest paired with dry, dusty old barn and wet blanket.. the fruit really shines here, and it presented itself well. The flavor opened with mild-to medium tart berry skins with a dry Brett wash over the middle of the tongue.. the back end picked up fresh blackberry seeds and was not unlike finishing off a couple overripe ones.. a hair more residual sugar right at the back along with grainy oak.. all in all quite tasty! Tart and well-carbonated on the palate.. not as gripping with the acidity as many, but this was charming in its own right.. faded off the finish unceremoniously and not with its best stuff. Excellent experiment! jjpm74 (2878), Connecticut, USA May 10, 2008 750ml bottle courtesy of yjb. Pours a pinkish amber with a thin white fizzy head. Smells of sweet sugar, some blackberries, very perfumy, bretty, funky, wheat. Tastes tarte and dry with some decent underlying sourness. The blackberries lend a nice character to this beer. Palate is dry. Finish has a nice tarteness with some residual sugar. More of a sour ale hybrid than a lambic, but a great beer. I hope this brewer puts out more of these experiments.
