You could really smell the tart and tang that are about to experience. No real fruit character in the nose, but I picked up a bit of barrel, and the sour funk is strong. I really liked it. Incredible flavor. Tart and tangy, just as I suspected. Fruity, but not a fruit flavor that would make me think blackberry. Medium body with high carbonation and a very dry finish. I went into this not expecting much and after trying fun one variety, I’m totally blown away. Only 6 more to go. Bloekie (163), Belgium

It’s awesome to see something lik e this was made in the States. Really, really awesome! Miver (566), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 10, 2008 Batch 2 - 750ml bottle. Poured a hazy purple amber in color with a white head that diminished quickly. Nose is tart with notes of blackberries and brett funk. Tastes is a little sweet. The batch 1 lambics had some time to age and they got more tart and funky with time. This batch was young, but still it was really quite great. Blackberry notes are present, but the american lambic backbone is probably on the best around. Very nice. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA

Light citrus aroma with definite sour notes. You can definitely tell this is a blackberry beer--which I appreciate as often in lambics you only get a "general" fruit type of aroma. Light copper color with little head. The palate is very full and perfectly carbonated. Great blackberry flavor in this brew, plenty of sour and oak mixed behind it, but the fruit flavor is definitely detectable and very enjoyable. Absolutely great beer! wetherel (1628), Encinitas, California, USA

Reddish amber color. Mild sour flavor. Great aroma of mild sourness and mild raspberries. Insanely easy to drink. Wonderful. TwoDudes (77), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Wow. Probably the best American representation of a true Belgian Lambic that I have had. Pours a hazy reddish amber. Sour funk dominates the nose. Hints of Blackberry fruit, but the Brett funk dominates. I love this beer, and can’t wait to try some of their other lambics. oh6gdx (8849), Vasa, Finland
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 1, 2009 Bottled. Amber colour, medium beige head. Aroma is blackberry, some wood, quite tart, but not the dry tartness. Flavour is quite burning tart blackberry, wooden, and some rather yeasty notes. A bit sweetish tart. Really pleasant. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 17, 2007 Simply breathtaking appearance. The head is completely stuck , a mid-sized white foam that’s both frothy and creamy. Lacing is profuse, sheeted and completely covering. The magenta body is glowing, soft and steady trickles of carbonation stream upward and keep the head level throughout the quaff. The aroma has a moderate level of funk and awesome barnyard leanings that niether go over-the-top nor dissapoint. This sexy melange morphs into a sheath that gently pulls back to reveal gentle blackberry tarness. Hay and must are medium and grow steadily as the lambic nears room temperature. This revelatory and complimentary blend of measured and restrained funkiness and light, fresh fruit is so enjoyable in the aroma that the first sip comes long after first inhalation. Oakiness is mellow and tannic properties as well as vanilla are minor offshoots. Lactic notes are soft, noted after the funkiness breaks momentarily. Soft grains trail and bring up the rear with a crisp earthiness. Alcohol is not noted, no flaws noted. Amazing so far. Sweetness in the flavor is much higher than the nose eluded to, but it’s not so high that it hinders enjoyment. The sweet sugars give way to funk and light blackberry notes. Barnyard is lessened now, a sequential transition to light tartness that grows into the long finish. Sourness is mild and most evident in the forefront of each sip. Oak is of medium stature in each big gulp(hard not to take huge sips). Vanilla is a soothing backdrop that counters zippy carbonation that amplifies the mouthfeel and makes medium seem suddenly larger, looming. The mouthfeel is very smooth, so much so that carbonation seems to slow down the descent to the belly. This is very easy to drink, quenching and delicious. There are intermittent watery pockets upon the palate but they’re not bothersome. Tartness and barnyard funk grow with each sip and linger in a semi-sweet and moderately sour finish. This is an excellent example of a domestic attempt at fruit lambic.
