Commercial Description:
In the spring of 2006, I brewed 300 gallons of top-fermented beer using wild yeast to create a Belgian-style Lambic. We conditioned the beer in oak casks and then initiated a secondary fermentation in the casks using whole fruit from Huber’s Orchard in Starlight, Indiana. You should experience a tart, almost sour taste balanced by the aromatic and richly flavorful addition of whole blackberries - perfect to share with friends, and a platter of good cheese and fresh fruit. - Caleb Staton, Head Brewer

In short: A refreshing and very acidic fruit beer with all kinds of berries.
How: Bottle 750ml. 2008 release. Consumed when around 1 year of age. Tasting session with Montreal crew
The look: Cloudy golden amber body with almost no head
In long: Nose is acidic, a little barnyard and with fruity notes of wild berries. Taste is very straight forward. This is medium acidity (no sourness, just acidity) and a nice fruity flavour of a blending a bunch of berries. Not particularly black berries, this tastes like <insertprefix>berries. A light barnyard sensation. The beer is indeed very simple but it is also something I could imagine drinking in very large quantities. I was disappointed because this beer is really not much of a lambic imho. However this is a really nice refreshing acidic/tart fruit beer. So at first I was disappointed but then I was pleasantly surprised, like finding my girlfriend in bed with another girl.

( 750ml bottle thanks to bobby91w and sprinkle) This beer pours an opaque dark pink color with a nice 1 finger head that goes away quickly. Nose is absolutely awesome. Wet blanket funk, sour vinegar notes, fruit juices, and tartness. Taste is strikingly dissimilar from the nose in certain ways, and very similar in others. There is no funk really to speak of here, but sour strawberry is the predominant flavor. I don’t detect blackberry as the label would suggest, but there is a LOT of tartness here which is awesome. Well balanced with the sweetness, some vinegar that isn’t acidic, and deliciousness all around. A little under-carbonated and lacking some creaminess that would go well with this style. A little bit thin on the weight of the beer too. A sipper of a beer, should let it warm up and taste the nuances at different temperatures.

Pours a red brown. Nose is sweet fresh blackberries, mild tartness, apple skins and red wine vinegar. Flavor is a watery tartness, sweet fresh picked berries. Very drinkable and enjoyable sour. All around needs some age or complexity. Looking forward to future batches.

has a sour kick that is strengthened by the blackberries, strong vinegar hints, and more bitter than sweet. Hardly any noticable sugar sweetness. Bottle from Ryan Blanksi’s Sourfest- Hollywood, Florida.

The best Upland I have had to date. reddish/pink pour. Aroma has berries, raspberry, blackberry and maybe some chery. Flavor is tart and fruity. A bit of vinegar too. I enjoyed this one.

(Rating #2705)

750ml bottle at a tasting. Nose is quite barnyard and funky. Some berries and nicely sour. Taste is very fruity berries a bit vinous. Hard to find a distinctive blackberry taste there. Good brew still.
