Commercial Description:
In the spring of 2006, I brewed 300 gallons of top-fermented beer using wild yeast to create a Belgian-style Lambic. We conditioned the beer in oak casks and then initiated a secondary fermentation in the casks using whole fruit from Huber's Orchard in Starlight, Indiana. You should experience a tart, almost sour taste balanced by the aromatic and richly flavorful addition of whole blueberries - perfect to share with friends, and a platter of good cheese and fresh fruit. - Caleb Staton, Head Brewer

SourFest II. Courtesy of Skyview. Dark red color with no head. A light blueberry and wheat aroma. Just a hint of blueberry and fruit taste. Not tart at all.

Bottle, thanks to DrHomolka. Pours pink, with no head. Aroma is sour funk and blueberries. Flavor is sour, with fruit, some oak, and funk. Body is really thin, with no carbonation. Not bad, just not all that good.

Funk with no fruit characteristic on the aroma. Pinkish red on the color. Faint red color. Light blueberry flavor, faint citrus tartness. Great!

I was trying to hold onto this bottle for awhile to let it carbonate but I got tired of waiting. Batch 2. Pours a pretty pretty light purple/rosy color with a tiny white head. Not carbonated really, or at best very lightly carbonated. Aroma shows very pleasant funk. The Upland strain is very pleasant, whatever they use, reminds me of Lost Abbey. The beer does not really smell like a traditional lambic but more like an American sour ale. Nice vanilla, soft oak and fruit, sour cherries. Honestly blueberry does not jump out at me. Lavender and slightly floral, all in all just a really soft and pleasant funk profile. Flavor is tart and slightly sweet. Not nearly sour or dry enough for this style. Almost like a tart fruit beer. Mouthfeel is strangely silky. This beer smells great albeit untraditional but it’s got a long way to go in the flavor. My least favorite of the Lambics I’ve had from Upland.

Aroma is nice and fruity. Sweet blueberries and some funky sour barnyard wood notes. Taste is sour and some light fruit. Funk lingers and ends dry. Not that much blueberry but other berries too. Re-rate. After trying a Batch 1 with age. This is awesome. So much sourness and fruit still there. Great and mow my favorite of all the Upland Lambics. From 3.5 Batch 2 to 3.9 Batch 1

750 ml from tjthresh. This is from the 2008 Bottling. Pour is hazy orange blue brown, with pretty much no head. Aroma of sour blackberry, oak tannins, and vinegar sour. Also, there is an oil graininess which jumps out. Interesting nose - more about the wood than the sour, very tannic. Taste is the sour tart blueberry, with the mineral oak woodiness. Taste is nice, though not as formed as the nose. Palate is dead flat, pretty boring. Overall, nice enough - thanks for sending this one my way, Tom.
