Commercial Description:
In the spring of 2006, I brewed 300 gallons of top-fermented beer using wild yeast to create a Belgian-style Lambic. We conditioned the beer in oak casks and then initiated a secondary fermentation in the casks using whole fruit from Huber's Orchard in Starlight, Indiana. You should experience a tart, almost sour taste balanced by the aromatic and richly flavorful addition of whole blueberries - perfect to share with friends, and a platter of good cheese and fresh fruit. - Caleb Staton, Head Brewer

20071216 750ml bottle shared by Bendo at Madness with the Moose. Pale magenta color is pretty, head is fleeting. Aromas of blueberry, for sure, simple funky barrel, twiggy. Somewhat heavy on the palate suggests some age would do this well. Only mild sourness. Would like to see this take a step beyond the currently almost dessert-beer impression. Keep it up, Upland. I like where this brewery is headed.

Murky pink with no head. Well oaked aroma with earthy blueberry and mild funk. Medium body and barely carbonated. Good taste is fruity blueberries with earthy wet wood and a hint of funkiness. This one was only mildly sour front to back. This batch might do well with some time in the bottle. Still a very tasty treat.

Murky purple in colour with a thin redish coloured head, very light to no lacing. The aroma is sour, fruity, very light sweetness, grape skins, some wood. The flavour is tart and sour, some sweetness peaks through, noticable blueberries, dry, berries. Sweet and dry mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes dry, lingering, tart and fruity.

This is another fantastic Upland lambic. The fruit in this is more pronounced then in the Strawberry. Very good balance in this. There is a bright future in Upland if they continue to make lambics.

750ml bottle obtained in a trade with Optigon, thanks Gary.

GTMW 08 - Pours clear bronze with a little head. The aroma is lactic with dry blueberry with plenty of sour citric present. Medium / light body with an over abundance of carbonation. The flavor starts very lactic with dry blueberries, lots of sourness, but some sweetness as well. The finish is grainy and dry with puckering blueberries. This is nice, but it seems more like a sour fruit beer than a lambic.

Bottle GTMW 2008 Lactic, sour berry aroma. Taste is sour, tart and berry. Sweet, then sour lingering finish. Mouth-puckering sourness. This one was awesome.

Special pouring during GTMW ’08 at 3 pm via 750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy and contaminated bluish purple lambic with a fizzy light blue/white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind a thin bubbly ring. Aroma of tart blueberries, some yeast, barnyard funk, a touch of lemon zest, and some dark berries. Taste has a dry tart blueberry flavor, with yeast and colby cheese. Finish has a dry blueberry tart and bread aftertaste, but does not stand out as well as the strawberry and blackberry versions.
