Commercial Description:
Chocolate Stout: A very dark, robust beer. Chocolate, pale, and roasted malts, rolled oats and spicy hops were used to brew this beer, promoting a coffee-like flavor with hint s of dark bitter chocolate. Organic chocolate was added in conditioning to create a complex chocolate finish.

Pours a nearly opaque black with dark brown edges and a thin ring of tan head and low viscosity. Aroma of dry, roasty dark caramel and chocolate malts with a touch of milk chocolate. Body starts with a nice sweet dark caramel maltiness and a touch of earthy bittering hops before a chocolatey, but somewhat thinner finish. Has nice chocolate flavor and sweetness, but could use a litte more body. Thanks to thedm for the bottle!

The addition of organic chocolate is a real catch 22 for this beer. Adding a nicely bitter chocolate lacing throughout the beer, it also really ravishes the head, carbonation and mouthfeel. Pours deep black with a cola-like head that immediately disappears. The nose is mostly sweet chocolate, with a mild supporting roasty character. The body is thin and undercarbed. More roast comes forth, as well as some unsweetened cocoa and dark chocolate. Chalky on the tongue. Maybe this pours creamier with more body when on tap? As is, not too impressed.

Dark brown, smallish head. Some bitter sweet chocolate aroma. Flavor followed that with a touch of coffee, but mostly a bitter chocolate. Not bad.

Dark with a lasting brown head, smells strongly of chocolate and coffee. Smooth and creamy on the palate, nice creamy bitter chocolate flavour. (Very chocolatey, which I love!)

On tap at brewpub. Looks fantastic. Dark black with a thick lasting tan head. Smells nice with smokey chocolate and roasty sweetness. The moutfeel is decent, but a little too watery, not sticky enough. The sweet flavor is chocolaty and creamy with some roastiness and a bit of bitterness. Really pleasant to drink

Bottle. Head is almost non-existant, I suspect due to the oils in the chocolate extract they’re using. This was disappointingly thin especially considering the nice chocolatey aroma. I think this would be much better on tap as, I think, most stouts are.

12oz - Aroma is milk chocolate, a touch of coffee, and some hops. Pours black with red edges, a small bubbly brown head, and decent lacing. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Palate is sour and carbonated. I would expect it to be more creamy. Not that good.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with (thanks!). Poured a dark black (with red at the edges) with a larger sized tan head. Aromas of chocolate and coffee. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, and bitter coffee. Definitely a lactose presence in the aromas and tastes as well. Body a tad on the thin side.
