Flavor is really hoppy with a little bit of a nutty aftertaste. Not like most Brown Ales I’ve had, more like an American Strong Ale, but still good. hotstuff (3176), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2009 Bottle. Small fizzy vanilla hued head that mostly diminished, fair amount of lacing, transparent ruby body, and fast rising carbonation. The aroma was toasty, chocolate, nutty, malty, sweet and roasty. The flavor was sweet, nutty, malty, nutty, some chocolate, roasty, lightly bitter, thin tasting, and the hops come through in the finish as the beer warmed up. The mouthfeel was tingly and thin. This is a light-medium bodied beer. An exceptionally easy to drink beer, nice aroma and flavor, worthy of a try, and definitely would drink this one again. Hats off to the folks at Upland for this beer. Gotta luv the label!! Nice looking beer (liquid and bottle). Clever head and pleasant aroma. Good and smooth with a nice balance of hop and malt - what a brown ale is supposed to be like. Drinks well, all four seasons. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 26, 2009 Top ten label, all time. Bottle. Sweet nutty chocolate nose with earth and nice musty hops. Clear walnut body with a perfectly rocky and lacing tan head. Taste has dried out somewhat, nutty and bitter with hard roast and restrained malt. Touch of Guinness-like sourness and a somewhat heavy body hiding the relatively high alcohol relatively well. Solid nut brown. Snojerk321 (2020), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with some ruby highlights and a big beige head. Nose is mostly roasted malts, almonds, and a touch of grain. Flavor is very roasty and the finish has a slight bitterness and a light metallic quality. A decent brown overall. daknole (3002), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 3, 2009 Nice clear light orange brown color with a moderate bone colored head. Toasted malt and an actually nutty scent. A bit earthy and raw at times. Big malt flavors, with caramel, toasted malt and nuts. Rather zippy feel. Mild bitterness starts in the middle and builds into the finish and on to the linger. Finish is rather dry and lightly acidic. LInger has quite a bit of bitterness and a little bit of malt and toasted nuts. Pretty good as far a brown ales go. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Pour is a dark brown with a large white head. Aroma is nice a toasty malts with some caramel in there. Flavor is a nice roasted malt with an ever so slight nutty aftertaste. Decent for a brown ale and the only reason i picked this one up was because of the kick ass label.
