Let me start off by saying that I sampled several beers from this brewer over the past weekend... and all of them taste the same (in a way). There’s an underlying burnt-rice flavor to all of their beers that I just can’t get past. Anyway, brownish with a small head. Malty nose, not overly hoppy. Flavor is burnt rice and malts... many more malts than hops, and this is not what i look for in a pale ale. argo0 (7032), Washington DC, USA

Aroma was friendly without being chummy. Quick across the palate and impersonal aftertang. Enjoyed on tap at the Upland brew cafe/restaurant in Bloomington IN. Silphium (2160), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 21, 2004 Hazy orange/amber body, thin off-white head. Piney hops aroma which was admittedly difficult to detect. Flavor was likewise standard APA fare with pine and grapefruit rind mingling with sweet biscuity malts. Rather thin-bodied, bitter finish. Probably follows the generic APA recipe 1000 American brewers apparently have stashed away in their offices. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA

Fairly well balanced, sweet bready malts and mellow citrus hops. Finish is sweet with very little bitterness. Easy to drink. Thanks Mike (from work) igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 6, 2003 Pours a lightly hazy copper with a big puffy white head. Light tangerine fruity and hoppy aroma has some soapy notes to it. Body is overcarbonated and has some off-flavors. From a pineapple fruitiness to a dry bitterness, this beer just seems confused and far from style. Some acetone chemical flavor is noticeable as well. I suppose it's possible that I got a bad bottle. tallmatt67 (99), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 27, 2003 (bottled) Earthy malt and light citrus hop aroma. Clear, pale orange color with creamy white head. Nice malt character with subtle fruity esters and crisp bitterness. Nice lingering woody hop & dried apricot character in the late late finish. Very drinkable session beer.
