Upland Peach Lambic

Bottle shared by bobby91w at the presex gathering. Thanks bro. One of the better of this most recent batch of upland fruit lambics I have had so far. Peach skins, oak, tartness. It’s still far from bering there, but it’s well on its way.

750mL bottle shared by ATLbeerDog. This thing looks a good bit like an unfiltered grapefruit juice - milky, completely flat and fluorescent golden orange with hints of pink in there. The aroma was a nice mix of sweet peaches and tart fruit notes. There is a hint of funk though it’s pretty subtle and certainly not overpowering. The taste is even sweeter than the aroma and is dominated by the sweet peaches. It tastes like peach juice with the faintest hint of funk in the background. The mouthfeel is very slick with no carbonation to speak of. This is certainly a drinkable lambic, mainly because there is almost no funk in there yet. I have a feeling this one will be much more representative of the style in a year or two when the funk starts to come out. Pretty fruity in it’s current state.

Bottle. Pours a murky orange with a thin white pathetic lacing. Lightly woody sour peach and a tart aromatic character. Very low acidity and carbonation. Lemon peach but very thin and weak, kinda like vitamin water. A poor lambik example.

Aroma was about the nicest thing this beer had to offer. The beer itself had a weak light sour taste with a large amount of the flavors coming from the peaches and nothing else. I even have doubts that this beer will get much better even after a few years in the cellar.

750ml bottle. Lighter musty, rotting fruit peel funk initially on the nose. Peach, pear, maybe a touch of pineapple. Basement, sock and a bit of barnyard... not a whole lot though. I’d say more fruity than funky aroma... but not by much. Pours a flat, still bright copper/gold. No head and no appearance of carbonation. Actually looks kinda nice in the glass. Flavor falls relatively flat so to speak. Just a bit of fruit... a bit of funk. A slight stinging acidity on the back of the tongue and down the throat. Some tart peach skin. Not overly sour but plenty of lacto creaminess. Very little barrel presence. Don’t get me wrong... very refreshing. I could drink a shitload of this on a hot summer day, but really missing the mark as a fruit lambic. Medium bodied. Plenty of lacto on the tongue. A bit (but not a lot) of carbonation with a slightly acidic finish. Could stand more acidity, more barrel and less fruit presence as a fruit lambic. Still tasty though. Thanks Marc!

750ml bottle thanks to tjthresh. When I removed the cap the cork was bubbling, I wonder what it would look like in a couple years, I’m guessing black and moldy like a Cantillon. The first whiff I took from the bottle got me excited for the funk. It smells like a nice fruity lambic, a little funk but not distinct peachiness. The color is hazy golden orange and it is completely flat which is a let down. There is hardly any sourness until the end and the flavor is kind of weak in my opinion resembling watered-down juice. Soft gold-to-amber pour, still like most Upland lambics. Faint tartness in the nose, with well integrated peach aromas. The body isn’t as full as it might be, but the flavor is quite fine, with oak really complementing the skin of the peach. Yummy stuff.

Graciously shared by tjthresh at the Sexual Chocolate gathering. The pour is a translucent peachy amber with no head. Still. The nose is peachy, mildly sweet, some oak comes through, nice upfront peach character. The flavor is peachy, tart, some oak, peach skins. No carbonation on the mouthfeel.
