Bar I work at in the Philadelphia ’burbs had a patron drop off a 12-pack he picked-up in Canada because one of the bartenders drinks Canadian beer. Yeah, but he drinks pale lagers so this brown ale has been sitting in the walk-in for the past month. I had no knowledge of this beer or even that it was brewed by Sleemans when I sampled it. Much better brown ale than my expectations, roasted caramel malts, some licorice and sweetness were all well blended. ChrisThomson (398), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

I liked this beer, would go well with a meal. beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Possible gayiety is the miasic mist of misery...did not meet my expectations. mabel (2612), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Very dark ruby-brown with a medium lasting off-white creamy head. Prickily boozy flavour, lightly earthy, lightly roasted or burnt. Very astringent and grating on the tongue. Pretty mainstream, can tell it’s standardly-made. KingofCastle (202), London, Ontario, Canada

He choose Newcastle Brown Ale & I choose this - a mistake on my part. I like this beer & had it countless tmes, but right next to the Newcastle, this was clearly inferior. Very drinkable but layers of flavour for brown ale is missing. Just get a Newcastle.
