Pours a pretty copper, though the head disappoints. Ever-so-slight hop and caramel aroma. Pleasant, but not overwhelmingly great. A bit oof hops and a little bitterness in the flavor, but no real aftertaste. I’m glad I had a few,and I’d probably buy it once in a while if it was available to me, though I’m satisfied and will try something else next time I’m in Ontario. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 16, 2005 Draught. At the Charlotte Room. After my recent ehhh experience with their lager, this wasn’t too bad. Poured mostly clear darkish amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma very mild and sweet - sweet lightly roasted malt and a touch of leafy hops - mostly generic "dark" malt. Taste was very brackish and metallic, with artificially sweet darkish malt and an overriding taste of past-their-prime prunes - starts sweet, finishes sweet, not nice. Mouthfeel thin, metallic and harsh. Not bad, but Upper Canada isn’t what it was. pjk33 (384), Sligo - Curllsville Heights, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a clear copper color with a slight head and no lacing. Nose of pure malt, not much hop to it at all, but it is pleasant. Malty, nutty taste medium sweetness, with a nice finish of noble hops. Nice light-medium body and a bit too much carb for the style, but not bad at all. Kuey (30), Windsor, Ontario, Canada

Nice aroma - fruity, caramel, dark sweet malt. Roasted malt accents, pleasant sweetness. Finish lingers a bit with light hops, nuts and roasted notes. Used to drink this a lot years back and was pleasantly surprised to know it’s still being brewed well. Lubiere (4551), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

In mouth, nice sweet malt with lots of nuttyness, and decent hops . Light coffee notes, not bad overall. Medium bodied. CharlesDarwin (1849), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
