This beer takes me to a lake with a leather canoe and loons in the background. I'm guessing a good late night cottage beer. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 30, 2004 Poured a beautiful red-chestnut color with a smalish tan head...not too much carbonation. I couldn't believe that there was so little definitive or distinct aroma....slight hops and sweetish malt odors...nothing really striking. This beer has some mass produced flavors of sweet malt, light hop bitters, slightly sour finish. A Mega brewers shot at the english brown ale style for mass consumption. This is not to my particular tastes but this is probably the best offering from this brewer. Tessic (457), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 30, 2004 Pours a dark brown with a white head. Roasted malts and citrus with a little toffee scents. First taste had more roasted malts with a slight coffee flavour. Slightly sweet but really smooth. Great amount of roasted flavour even if it is a little watery. Palate was clean and it left behind only a nice roasted flavour. Very good! Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 30, 2004 Reddy brown, clear. No head, ample carb.Nutty roast aroma. Touch watery. Burnt sugar, some roastiness. Lightly bitter and crisp. Nice taste but not bold enough. beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 11, 2004 Too thin and bland to warrant being considered a good ale. Upper Canada was once a proud brewery but those days are long gone. This is a prime example of a beer I wish I had tasting notes for from when I first drank it many many moons ago. Even before Sleeman bought them out U.C. lowered their quality to pander to the masses so now it is much more commonplace. I did like the rich brown colour but not much else very much. It poured a mouth-watering reddish-brown, leaving a sandy head, which sadly dissipated quickly. Lovely maltiness and balanced bitterness, slightly sweet and very filling. A wonderful ale! This is a good sipping beer for me until I get the gumption to pick up an Imperial Stout. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

Faint, lightly toasty, caramel aroma. Fizzy feel. Lightly toasty, brandyish flavour w/ hints of nuts & toffee. Overall though somewhat muddy.
