341ml bottle from The Beer Store. Pours dark brown, with an impressive white head that left great lacing down the glass. Aroma is fruity and malty. Medium body, and flavours of caramel and a hint of roasted malts. Much better than I expected. No wonder it’s the highest rated beer Sleeman makes.

341 ml bottle from Beer Store. Pours a reddish brown with thin tan head. Simple, light nose of nutty, caramel malt. Taste is mostly nutty, with caramel and light roast. Thin, somewhat watery body. Pretty unmemorable.

Deep, malty character, with a hint of caramel and hazelnut. Pretty much what you’d (pleasantly) expect in a brown ale.

Cask @ Black Bull, Toronto. Brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts and nuts. Flavour is nutty, caramel malts, and some fruits. Forgettable.

On tap at the Diesel Theater while watching a performance of The Evil Dead- The Musical. Pours brown with a thick white head. has a mildly roasted caramel aroma. Nice toasted malt flavor. Not so sweet, but has a very pleasant finishing bitterness.

Pretty good. I liked the fact that it poured a thick head and lots of lacing was left on the glass throughout. Dark Amber/Brown color. A rich malty, smoky flavor to it. Much richer than a standard Pale Ale, or even a Brown Ale. I found it quite warming (it was something like 5 degrees yesterday!)

I had this from a bottle at the Hard Rock in Toronto while I was there for the OUA swimming championships. It really didn’t blow me away, and it was actually tough to finish. It had this weird dry finish with a sweet alcoholic kick that was just bizarre. Must be better on tap, or like, in a GLASS. I was in decent company though so I still somewhat enjoyed it.
