Sleeman’s has made a lot of decent beers in their day, but this one is great. A bit heavy in the taste department, but it can kick the lager you’re drinking now’s ass! Wish I could get if for less that $14.00 a 12 here in the states. In case you’re wondering why the hell this guy from Ohio writes so much about Canadian beer, I’ll tell you.... I used to go to Windsor twice a month several years ago, as I managed a rather crappy band that was tossed out of Ohio bar scene. Since all I had to dowas make sure they got paid, most of my evenings were spent drinking beer, and chatting with the locals. So I’ve had a ton of canadian beer, some good, and a great deal bad. steyrman (12), TORONTO, Ontario, Canada

The label used to have a drawing by late Canadian artist C.W. Jeffreys showing the "March Down Yonge Street" (Toronto) in 1837 by followers of political reformer William Lyon McKenzie. Where Maple Leaf Gardens now stands in Toronto, his rag tag group of farmers ran into the local militia. Both sides fired, and even though the militia was ready to run away, the rebels hightailed it first. They were tracked down to a local tavern a few miles up the road (at Yonge and Eglinton now) where they were finally dispersed by an emboldened militia. McKenzie was trying to establish a more American-style government in Upper Canada (Ontario) at the time. This event has come to be known as the Upper Canada Rebellion.
Hence the name for the beer. Very tasty, I might add. GoldenCrown (18), Ontario, Canada

The taste is succulant with a snap of dryness a la fin. Its a full dry beer that satisfies. Some elements are missing to make it 'complete' yet its almost there. An intellect's beer, I'd say. One to be had in the midst of a chess game or something of that nature with a small gathering of acquaintances.

But man o man taste would surprise even the most demanding dude.... Rich but soft, complex but balanced. What else do you want?
