Pitcher, Peoples Bar, Toronto Pours a nice fiery copper color with an offwhite head. A malty nose with hints at grains and summer fruit. Easy aftertaste, also of malt.

Tap at Mitzi’s Sister. Amber-mahogany colour with a thin reddish-mocha head. Nice aroma, fresh & fruity malt with a hint of grassy hops. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasant and well balanced, with more of the fruity malt found in the aroma. Finish is a little weak, but all in all, I found this to be quite a bit better than I expected based on my past experience with mainstream red ales like Rickard’s and Micks.

Tap at Under the VOlcano in London, Ont- Deep amber body with a good size beige froth. Malty aromas mixed with bread and some grains. Taste is sweet malts with a solid hop bite to round it out. Bread crust too. Slightly grainy on the finish, with a good sweet malt aftertaste. Medium body with good carbonation. Better than expected.

Medium amber body with a moderate off white head. Muted aroma of malt. Flavour is sweetish caramel malt with moderate bitterness and a slight hoppy tang in the finish. Average palate. Meh. Quaffable but their dark is a better choice.

Pours copper with a short off white fizzy head. Grainy aroma. A little too sweet in the start. Straight-forward and faintly hopped nothingness. Pale lager with some red malts and caramel.

(Draught) Sampled on tap at the Arrow & Loon in Ottawa, April 2, 2006. Nose of under-cooked baguette and roasty malt. Flavour is slightly tinny à la Sleeman with a malted red pepper burrito to finish. Dark reddish amber and lofty almond foam. Average.

Draught. At Charlotte Room. Oh God, another "red." Poured deep clear copper with a small quickly gone white head. Sweet light roast aroma with grain - average, not nasty. Taste is sweet, grainy no hops to speak of, slightly vegetal and metallic - again, nothing awful. Mouthfeel flat and sticky - better than other recent UC’s but pretty bleh overall - pint went down with no real complaints, but my choice was sadly limited.

nice red body, fruity aroma. very small head, ok, i’m, scpetical, the head dissepeared in about 10 seconds. Flavour falls flat on its face, lifeless, and wattered down.
