Commercial Description:
Five is a farmhouse pale ale using several hop varieties to create a deep herbaceous character. It has a distinct bitterness and broad barley flavor making it our most rustic beer.

On tap at the Upright brewery. They tapped a fresh batch of this and the hops were just brilliant. Much heavier on the floral and backed off a bit on the bitterness from the previous batch so it seems. The first time I had 5 it was a bit to sharp for me, this was really well rounded, ample citrus aromatics, very dry and crisp.

750ml by way of writerjberg. Pours a cloudy orange with a big 3 finger beige head that leaves behind spotty lacing. The nose is fruit and spice with some flight floral hops. The taste is citrus, white pepper, spicy yeast and some light sourness funk in the finish. Medium extremely prickly mouthfeel. I enjoy this one a lot – hoppy little saison! Thanks Luke!

Draft at Moon. Pours orange with white head. Aroma is citrus hop and yeast. Flavor was citrus hop up front followed by yeast and clove, a little tart. Good beer, I will drink again but a one pint beer.

Tap @ Belmont Station... Poured hazy, golden orange with a thick, frothy, white head. Aroma was faint with light esters and fruits with a bit of yeast and grains. Refreshingly dry and crisp palate. Flavors of light fruits. Sweet, sugary yeast notes that were delightfully funky and well balanced.

On tap @ Bailey’s Taproom on 5/11/09 The beer pours a golden orangish hue with a super creamy white head that last forever. The aroma is mellow spices, slight egg scent, some lemon zest, pretty damn funky. The flavor has a lot of bitterness up front with some lemon zest and ends bitter and yeasty. Its light-medium bodied and extremely enjoyable. I like farmhouse ales and am extremely curious what this brewery starts putting out.
