Commercial Description:
Pinot Barrel Four was our second batch. We took the recipe for the Four and sent the beer into some oak barrels graciously donated by La Bete winery of McMinnville, topping them up with a small amount of Oregon cherry puree along with lactobacillus and brettanomyces claussenii to encourage more acidity and aromatic complexity in the finished beer. Half of the batch was blended and kegged and can be found at a few specialty bars while the remaining half is still maturing in the barrels and will likely be bottled at some point towards the end of 2009.

On-Tap @ Upright Brewery poured into Pilsner glass. Pours a pinkish-yellow-orange with a finger of fizzy white head that quickly dissolves into a thin layer atop the glass. The aroma is sour cherry and some touches of yeast. Flavor is sweet cherry upfront accompanied by fresh cirtus hoppiness, a touch of wood and a tart finish that ends up being very dry. Its light to medium bodied with a nice carbonation. Very tasty stuff and I may be pushing it but I believe this has been my favorite from the brewery.

Tap @ Upright. Poured a grapefruit tone with a white head. Tart, Cherry and yeast aroma. Well carbonated with a souring, winel-ike quality (horse blanket/brett) and a cherry accentuation. Citrus hops and yeast towards the tart finish.
