| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Wax sealed 750ml bottle. Brown sugar and bubblegum in the aroma, faint apple and cherry notes, along with some light toffee, wood, faint breadiness and a touch of blueberry. Clear light-medium amber color, no head to speak of. Flavor is sweetly malty and warming, very full malt profile overall, dark and sugary, the yeast doughy and estery, along with a good dosage of spicy bitterness. Sweet, yes, but nicely balanced out by the alcohol and hop character. Smooth, lightly sticky mouthfeel, body is very full. Really pretty nice. Thanks to theisti for the chance to try this rare Barleywine. Gregis (1136), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Bottle shared by theisti at his Holiday Tasting on 12/28/07. Pours a clear orange-red with a thin, creamy, beige head. Super sweet, on the nose, with a malty, dark fruit front and lesser notes of biscuit and faint pine rounding out the aroma. Medium-bodied and silky with a dry, "warm" finish. The flavor is sweet and vinous with solid notes of brown sugar and English walnuts, concluding with a hit of alcohol at the finish. This is an interesting and unique barley wine. Thanks for sharing this one with us, Tim. theisti (1693), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2007 750 ml bottle (June 07) purchased at Beertopia in Omaha, Nebraska, enjoyed at my Holiday Mini Tasting. Pour is reddish gold with a head that went away fast. Aroma of sweet biscuity malt, and some sweetness. Taste is really sweet, almost to the point of cloying. Some hop brightness to the finish. Not terribly refined, but pretty interesting nonetheless. csbosox (1085), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Cookie dough, caramel, hay, toffee, some nice spicy notes (black pepper?), light citrus and fruit. Malty, caramel, and toffee followed by krispy kreme glaze, some woodsy notes and more caramel. Nice bitterness at the end balances the sweetness, but the finish is still a little sweet.
