Commercial Description:
Our newest seasonal available on draft is the “Before” version of this beer. It is a red ale; rich, luscious, and very drinkable. It was brewed for and served as the wedding beer for our Brewer, Jason Payne. This beer turned out so good that we are doing a maturation experiment, which will of course be served as the “After” version of this beer. Sixty gallons of this red ale was put into a French oak barrel from the Optima Winery in Napa Valley, previously holding cabernet wine. We also added a variety of “wild yeast”, similar to those found in the air in the Flanders region of Belgium. Our hope is that this beer over the course of the next year develops into a style known as a Flanders Red. Look for the “After” version some time around Jason’s first anniversary.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours reddish amber with a yellow-tinged off white head. Remarkable red wine aroma is quite vinous. A malty beer with a low hop content. Medium thickness to the palate. I was befuddled by this beer until I read the description. It seemed a bit unfinished, so I can hardly wait to try the impact of a tartness producing yeast strain in this sweet beer.

Clove and banana aroma...somewhat like a Dubbel. Amber to light red with a big creamy head at first...no lacing though. Clove and candy malt flavor. Medium to thin body.
