Commercial Description:
This beer can be summed up in one word- BIG! It has immense roasted malt flavor and alcohol content, yet it is exceptionally smooth and easy to drink. If you are a fan of big beers, or big, fat, red wines, you will love this dark, rich lager.

(Draft, Downtown Omaha) Pours a black body with a thick chocolate brown head. Aroma of dark malts and roastiness. Flavor of roasted malt, molasses, lactose, and licorice with a creamy mouthfeel. A quite respectable beer from Upstream.

on tap at downtown location. This beer would be exciting no matter how it tastes because brewer Elliott Spilker is a Crescent Moon regular - hooray! yummy beer that is very dark in color with perhaps the darkest head I have ever seen on a beer. Sweet roasted flavor, thick palate... I wondered if there was some lactic acid in the mix to deliver such a thick and sweet palate. Slight tart herb-taste on the end. A really interesting beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a dark beige head. When served at the very cold tap temperature, it has a mild coffee-roasted aroma. Slight lacing ringlets appear on the sides of the glass. A quick milk sour tartness gives way instantaneously to a thick, super sweet malted bolus of roasted milk chocolate. I actually get a finishing licorice bloom at the end. This is a very thick beer. Has an intense chewiness that hangs in the mouth. I wonder if this has lactose in it? It sure seems milk sweet. Leaves a nice tingle on the tongue. Also has a definite sulfurous black strap molasses taste. This is one of the finest beers ever poured at the Upstream. Kudos to the inventor, Elliot Spilker.
