Amber...head fleeting...Mellow fruity aroma...more dry and bitter than the IPA...that’s good! citirc hop character again...Malt dimension still missing, especially calling itself ESB...maybe an American ESB, which just means a bit darker crystal malt is added to generic 2-row malt and hops of British heritage might be used. Very mild nose procures toasted grain and cereal, caramel maltiness that faced rather punchy citrusy and earthy hops that feel English in their soapiness, but that’s about it. Light bodied, watery texture, not very distinctive. willblake (2177), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Unfortunately hoppiness does not translate to bitterness with this stuff. Sweet base tricks you into thinking it’s malty. Floral, papery, sweet. Crash (448), Macomb, Illinois, USA

Poured a redish brown color with not much head. Aroma was a sweet pine mix. Taste was a lot like the smell. Mixture of slight pine with an almost candy hint. RateandPillage (417), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Light in the hop department for an ESB, but probably Upstream’s efforts to appeal to more of the masses. Not a bad beer, but lacking in character. jefcon (1000), Arlington, Virginia, USA

The unique aromas and flavors of this brew are hickory and lemon. No real hop bite, however, and a struggle to find the malt component of a drinkable beer that sorely needs some assertiveness. barenada (211), Georgetown, Indiana, USA

I was a bud light drinker at the time and ESB really meant ESB to me. I had it again and well I don’t know how this used to taste bitter. Dark brown/amber in color with a citrus smell. Tastes lemony with some bitterness, but not very much.
