Commercial Description:
Our version of this traditional British beer is a golden-colored ale that is full-bodied and refreshing, with a bold hoppy finish.
(Try a "Hoppy Marriage," a blissful blend of India Pale Ale and Firehouse ESB. One of our house favorites.)

(Draught) Pours a deep golden color with little to no head. A descent hoppy flavor to this beer, but nothing overly exciting.

Tap at the brewpub. The body was dark amber with a lightly off white head. The aroma was grapefruit and almonds. Not much to hold onto though. The taste was light grapefruit and almond, but light. This had little to no malt backbone. Drinkable, but boring.

Golden hue with small head and some lace. The aroma is the standard pine, grapefruit, toasted and biscuit malts, floral hops, barnyard yeast, and sour apple. The taste has bitter forefront with a fruity twang and additional malt undertone. Lingering bittering found. Medium-bodied and slighty creamy. Solid IPA, not big but drinkable.

Semi-active amber and clear. Nice floral aroma. Robust-enough grapefruit flavor. Sweet and tart with an OK malt underpinning. A stock IPA, but this is among the best they offer at Upstream.

On tap at the original brewpub. Amber water. The hop bitterness is very strange in this "IPA." There is no flavorful grapefruit bitterness like you would expect. Just some strange unpleasant burnt sensation on your tongue. I think that if you unplugged your toaster, washed it out in the sink, then tasted the dishwater it would resemble this "thing." Disgusting.

Golden and clear with a frothy white head. Light carbonation, but it still had a little crispness to it. Malts were a little underwhelming. Hops were flowery and piney ... became rather bitter in the finish and aftertaste. Kind of became "hot," also. Overall, I found it a little unbalanced and too light in the malt department.

GABF 2003: Clear deep yellow color, flowery hops aroma, average body, ends lightly bitter without anything backing it up.

GABF ’04 Light golden in color with a small white head. Moderate hops, thin and not very assertively bitter.
