kitschy (197), Nebraska, USA Jul 5, 2009 Hazy yellow color, with yeasty aroma; will please Saison fans. Lemony notes but the main flavors are yeast and hops. Malt body is nicely done to hold up all the flavor and adds surprising and appreciated sweetness. I was spoiled by tasting the ginger saison the same day; it was a terrific surprise to find these two beers on tap the same day. theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jun 16, 2009 Draft pour at the brewpub in the Old Market, Omaha Nebraska. Pour is orange golden, hazed with a smallish off white head. Aroma is immediately of the sugary sweet orange fruit and orange peel. Behind that is grainy earthy wheat and a clove yeastiness. The flavor follows the nose closely, sweet orange fruit and peel initially, followed by the grainy wheat, finishing with dry yeastiness. Palate is medium, dry in the finish which makes it drinkable and refreshing. The big sweetness is the main story here, perhaps a bit overboard, but does make it unique.
