Bottle 280/1452 (Brewed 06 and bottled 07) The cork exploded out with some beer loss. Poured a hazed brown color with an off-white head. The aroma started with herbal and spiced notes that made it almost smell like pickles. As it warmed it became nicer with some notes of leather and vanilla. The flavor had some light funk, wood and vanilla. The finish was woody. Lively mouthfeel.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, clear body with a gigantic, off-white head. Smell: Sour-smelling sour cherry with a pinch of nutmeg, allspice, and cocoa powder. Taste: Lightly chocolatey maltiness with distinct sour and spice qualities to it. Some woodiness. Funky, drying finish with a hint of exasperated cocoa. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Full carbonation. Drinkability: No thanks. Fourth beer I’ve had from Upstream and the second I rather disliked. 2 oughta 4 now for those keeping score at home.

750ml bottle. thanks to Joey for this awesome extra!..... pours a fizzy chocolate brown with a spritzy light brown head.... light tartness and oak without a whole lot of malt as implied by the description on the bottle.... mild flavor with somewhat of a muted emphasis on the oak and light vanilla flvors. extremely dryh finish with a very lively and carbonated mouthfeel. can’t detect much of the 9.4% in this.

750ml bottle, caged and corked. Bottle 418 of 1452. Malty, chocolate, spiced, oak. Pours dark brown. Big foamy head. Aroma is tart. Flavor has a spicy spruce note. Big sourness. Another infection?

Thanks to valpoaj for this one - deep mahogany beer, with high carbonation and a frothy head - semi-earthy, almost leathery aroma, with some fruit skins and pits, chocolate, some vinous notes - fairly earthy, with strong oak, light chocolate, dark fruit, some red wine character - a wee bit of warming spiciness - a bit of funkiness - seems like it’s infected, but it’s good that way.
