| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Bottle. Slightly dark honey body with a very thick foamy head with lots of lacing. Nose-stale, cottony, freshly mopped floor. Taste-very stale hops, medium acrid bitterness, lingering bitterness, kind of piney and chemically, low-medium sweetness, grapefruit, foamy, medium hop aroma, light bitter orange pith, watered down orange juice. I like the choice and use of hops. This was most certainly a hard beer to make and I can appreciate and taste the effort that went into it. This may not be my most favorite of all time but it is interesting and well done. VERY sweet as it warms. Loses a point on the overall for the sweetness as it warms. MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2007 a hybrid style. does have a combo aroma of belgian yeast spice, and floral hops. nicely bitter, but retains much of the rich malt/yeast mix of belgian strongs. I am a little torn in each direction with hops on one end and the rich smoothness of a belgian strong on the other. I’ll acclimate to the style with time I’m sure... Has a medium body, average carbonation and a long bitter finish that irritates me in the long run. Miver (572), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2007 In a 12oz bottle: had in the past on tap, and 750ml. This bottle poured copper color with large foamy white head. Aroma is less noticeable in this version. Still slightly piney and citrusy. Tastes of mellowed hops and a bit of sour orange; but the alcohol bite at the finish was evident. This was one of my favorite beers in the past, but there is a change that I’m not fond of. I’d love to try again on tap to see if it’s the change of brew location, or the difference between the bottle and keg version. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 28, 2007 Pours a hazed gold with very little head that falls quickly to nothing. Massive amount of lacing at first. Nose is an evident alcohol and aged cheese skins. Yeah. That is what I said. Flavor is thick on hops, but the sugars seem to cut into it quite a bit and provide a really odd marriage. Seems to be an interesting mix of spices in there as well that provide an interesting accent. Feel is thicker on the liquid with a fairly high amount of carbonation over the tongue. Very drinkable. An interesting brew with a mix of things going on. Worth trying for sure.
