A small sample at the Mellow Mushroom on tap. Pours out a golden color with a thick white head. I dont usually rate samples, but this was a good enough sample size that I feel it warranted a rating. Smell is weird, and really similar to a rubber glove. The taste is about the same, with some hoppy properties to blend with the apparent odd flavors brought on by some kind of rubber tastes. Not really good at all, and I wish the beligans would stay to what they know best, and that is belgian beer. Not IPAs.

As always, it’s interesting to taste a Belgian interpretation of a hoppy beer. Certainly not hoppy in the American sense (or at least what I consider the American sense) but loaded with lots of citrusy flavor, not so much pine. Hazy, yellow-orange. Billowy head. Sweet up front with some savory spicing to match the orange/grapefruit/lemon hop profile. Easily enjoyable without being challenging.

Pours a hazy gold with a very fluffy thick white head. The head stays stable throughout and resembles whipped cream. Very mellow smell. More citrus, than hops in my opinion, bu they are present. Definitely hoppy in the taste. Cinnamon and sweet suagr are also there, helping to blend it nicely. Pretty good belgian attempt at a hoppier beer. Still not Chouffe Houblon.

33 CL bottle: Lightly hazy golden body w/a lasting mediums sized white head. Earthy & herbal hops up front along w/ a grainy malt and peppery yeast aroma. Lightly plummy ester & some floral hoppy notes creep in as it warms slightly. Lightly bready malt aroma as it warms further. Flavor is well balanced the first few sips w/ a dry, lightly bitter finish. A white winey flavor mid palate into the finish w/ some toasty malt and floral hop flavor that also lingers into the aftertaste. Bitterness really sets in as it warms and more of it is drunk, but it’s a pleasant bitterness. Peppery yeast notes play amongst the bitterness. Actually very crisp & refreshing for a 9.5% ABV beer. Highly carbonated, dry m/f, well hidden alcohol, and lighter body due to carbonation. This is sort of like a Northern German Pilsner on steroids! Assertive bitterness, but pleasant & not harsh. Would be a good summer time beer once the yard work is done to finish the evening while the sun sets! I like the yeast character that is still present in a Belgian style, but the seemingly more simple grain bill side makes it very refreshing!

Draft - Frisco Grille - Light gold, foamy white head. Fruity nose with touches of honeyed banana, mango, and floral perfume. Peppery hop flavors expand into a Belgian tripel like spicy fruitiness. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry, fruity hop finish. Unique and worthy of a try...

(Bomber)poured into a urthel Hop-it Tulip. pours a clear golden yelow with rocky high frothy head that was very thick and whippy, like fluffy morang, i could not get over the head on this beer, it would not go away, and was definitly the thickest of any beer I have had, beyond the head it had medium carbonation. the smell was sweet and sour with a fruity tinge. taste is light and smooth, very sweet on the finish and fruity. has a smooth light palate. this beer i honostly was not expecting much, but I was impressed, it is darn good....

cloady golden ale. nice amount of foam, sure tastes like a belgian, yeast floral hops, well hidden alcohol. The bottle says 80ibu’s i dont think its that hoppy but a nice beer. tastes like a westmalle tripel with stronger hop bitterness.

(Bottle) Pours a light cloudy amber color with a massive, lasting white head. Floral hoppy aroma, with some honey and banana thrown in there as well. Not as hoppy as expected. Creamy texture comes from the head, which tasted very bitter. Sweet molasses and Belgian yeast in the aroma as well. I liked this quite a bit. It is different from the norm, which is a good thing.
