Aroma is fruity with notes of citrus, oranges and hops. Flavor is fruity with notes of fruit esters and hops. Not all that balanced, nor anything special. HonkeyBra (1353), Lemont, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 30, 2009 On tap at the Map Room. Golden pour with some head. Noticeable chlorine in the aroma, with typical esters and phenols. Kind of yeasty, fruity, chemically. Flavor is sort of spicey and hoppy, i guess. Kind of an estery yeast bomb. Not something I’d have again. CharlesDarwin (1849), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 29, 2009 On tap at Track 84 - Warwick, RI. Aroma is somewhat confused
blend of pithy citrus rind dryness and some wetter yellow plum
sweetness. Strongly estery and phenolic as it warms. Flavor is
sweeter than I expected, but gives a nice dryness in the finish
from the Belgian yeast character. I was looking for more hop
punch, but got a well-balanced and flavorful Belgian Golden
Strong that lacked some of the more complex apple, pear, and pale
fruit tones. Nice body, extremely drinkable, and not showing
anywhere near 9%. Delicious, otherwise. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Pours milky pale gold with a 3 finger slightly chunky white head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, nice orange blossom floral, light grainy malt, a little woody pine, a little caramel and white bread. Flavor is sweet and grainy malts right away, light caramel, very bready yeast, citrus, a little pine, floral notes, sweet berries, raw yeast and light banana. Finishes yeast, citrus, banana and spice. Palate is medium bodied with a slightly syrupy entry and neutral feel the rest of the way through. Good stuff, maybe a little too strong on the raw yeast front, but I still liked it. can8ianben (907), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 28, 2009 Golden yellow with a thin sticky white head. Certainly very hoppy in the nose, but not an exceptionally dry bitter finish. Flavor is not as yeasty as I expected it to be. A pleasant drinkable beer, but would have liked more spicy notes to come through from the Belgian influence. hopheadfett (50), Oak Ridge, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2009 Pours slight orange with a thick white head. Nose of fruit, hops, caramel. Taste is sweet malt, spice, bitter hops mmmmmm, and an alcohol finish. Medium bodied. Overall not the most balanced belgian ipa I’ve had, but pretty good nonetheless. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 22, 2009 On tap at the Maproom. Pours orange with a foamy white head. Aroma is of hops, pine, caramel, grapefruit, spice, and yeast. Taste starts off with a bitter, juicy citrus hop bite. Lots of pine, alcohol, and caramel malt. Lingering pine and hops. The hops come off as way to bitter and oily, making the beer too onesided. Mouthfeel is very oily, but goes down easy. A strange alcohol burn also makes this beer less than enjoyable. Dissapointing. mbuisman79 (153), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 17, 2009 Nice hints of cloves and citrus in the smell. Very hoppy, little too much for my taste but I also don’t like IPA’s that much. if you do this might be a good beer for you.
