Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Brewed under direction of Hildegard van Ostaden, formerly at Van Steenberge, now at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.
With its rich foam, hoppy flavour and fine bitterness, Urthel Vlaemse Bock is a special ale with a high drinkability for lovers of the authentic Flemish brewing art. Vlaemse Bock as originally brewed for the winter, but is now available in 33 cl. (330 ml./ 11.2 FL.OZ.), 75 cl. (750 ml./1 PT. 9.4 FL. OZ.) and kegs the whole year. You can only buy Urthel Vlaemse Bock in the United States. This heart-warming dubbel of 7.5% of alcohol, traditionally top fermented and bottle conditioned flamey dark ale has a tastefully rich, malty, slightly sweet flavour. Vlaemse Bock’s very fine distinctive bitterness makes you forget the long cold winter.

Bottle at The Rake, Borough Market. Very deep red/brown with thick beige head. Belgian yeast aroma. Lots of candy sugar. Bit of choc, bit of unsubtle unintegrated flavours. I should have had something else.

pours a murky brownish red, with a huge tan head i just finally got past the head and got to taste it. the aroma smells of sweet caramel and kinda fruity. This is a pretty good dubbel, it has a nice balance and very drinkable.

glass to bottle. scent of overwhelmingly of caramel. pours dark ruby red with lite brown thick head. flavor is of yeast, honey, figs, caramel. definitely let it breathe for a couple of minutes after pouring-sip it too soon is overpowering. good stuff.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a huge brownish white head. Malty aroma with some hops in the back ground. Malty flavor which covered the alcohol well. Pretty good.
