Jul 9, 2007 Deep dark, garnet/blood colored liquid. Somewhat fluffy light tan head. Deep rich malt aromas with sorghum, and dark fruits. Light herbal spice, with, licorice, anisette, bourbon oak and burnt marshmallows. Certainly more depth than your typical bock, oh wait this is a dubbel, somewhat typical of a heavy dubbel. Quite herbal in flavors, with light wintergreen, licorice, bay leaves and lime zest. Somewhat odd, but refreshingly different for a dubbel. Some candi also present. A touch dry at times, again, different for a dubble. I find that this is a slow quaff. I am only half way through the beer and feel I should be done. Ok, I am.

Jul 9, 2007 Draught @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Pours a deep reddish color with an off-white head. Sweet malty slightly spicy aroma with some hints of caramel. Sweet malty spicy flavor with some hints of caramel and dark fruit. Sweet spicy warming malty finish.

Jul 8, 2007 750ml bottle -pours a creamy to blotchy light tan head that laces and mahogany color. Aroma is dark/medium malt-creamy/smooth, dark caramel, molasses, dark fruit-cherry, faint woody-hops. Taste is dark/medium malt-creamy/smooth, dark caramel, molasses, dark fruit-cherry, faint woody-hops. Easy drinking, good effervescence. Better when cooler at 45 degrees than at 50 +.

Jul 3, 2007 on tap in Take One Maastricht. Dark reddish color, thick longlasting beige creamy head . A bit of sweet, with caramel toffy and clear hops. Alcohol comes through a bit. If itwas better covered it would be perfect.

Jul 2, 2007 11.2oz, no date. Pours a clear medium red brown with a two finger staying rocky beige head--very good retention with lots of sticky lace. Aroma was pretty nice with caramel, toffee, toast, and a bit of molasses--even a few raisins. Flavor is a little roastier, though there is still a lot of sweetness. Mild spicy bitterness to go with light alcohol in the finish. A bit thin on the body with moderate lively carbonation. This is a pretty solid dubbel.

Jun 22, 2007 (Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 21 June 2007) Dark ruby red colour with firm pale brown head. Malty nose with dark fruit and wild berries, slightly vinous. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, blackberries, raspberries, slightly sourish and vinous notes. Distinct malt sweetness, but still drier than expected. Nice brew leaning in the doppel bock direction.

Jun 20, 2007 The body is medium brown with a hint of ruby red. The head is light tan and long lasting. The aroma is cinnamon with massive amounts of pear brandy. There is also a hint of caramel under that. The taste is caramel with some rich Bananas Foster. This is lightly carbonated and fairly pleasant for a mouhtfeel. The lingering after taste has hints of caramel and tobacco. It gets a little cloying sweet as you drink more.

Dark ruby color, nice beige creamy head. Light coffee and berries in the nose. Semi-sweet abbey dubbel, a bit sugary-toffeish, grassy hops, light alcohol plus earthy notes. Leaves light grassy aftertaste. Quite simple, but same time very drinkable brew to sip.
